SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  • List elements of design
  • State the Principles of design

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: The Teacher uses Drawing book, illustrations and pictures showing element principles

INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC

The teacher introduces principles of design as the rules followed by the designers to create effective communication to their audience

She Explains that the rules are ideas and guidelines used to create a meaningful design.

She also explains the importance of the principles Design.

NOTE

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

1.Balance- is the systematic arrangement of design or art that attract or creates impression.

2.Unity- is when all parts of design work together as one.

  1. Contrast- is the uniqueness and different of a design from one.
  2. Rhythm- is the repeated elements of design that creates flow.

Other examples include  Repetition, Emphasis, Movement, Proportion etc
