SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  • Give the meaning of elements of design
  • List the elements of design
  • Illustrate lines and colours.

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: The Teacher uses Drawing book, Illustrations and pictures showing design elements and principles

INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC

The teacher introduces Element of design as the basic qualities that are put together to make better and beautiful design.

She explains that every design requires a proper use and application of elements like – Line, colour, Form, value, Textile, Shape

BASIC ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

1 Line- This are distant between points to form shapes

2 Value- This is the look of any design i.e, how light or dark a shape or design should look.

3 Colour- This defined importance, create visual interest and attraction when applied effectively

  1. Texture- This refer to the surface quality in a work of art
  2. Space-This is the surface area within, around, above or below an object

  • List 3 basic elements of design
