2. microorganisms

3. minerals

4. gas

The teacher then explains that there are three types of soil namely;

1. sandy soil

2, clay soil

3. loamy soil

The teacher further explains and demonstrates the uses of soil to plants

1. as a medium for plants to grow

2. as a source of nutrient and air

3. it protects the plant from erosion

4. it stores water for plant use

5. it houses microorganisms necessary for the growth of plants

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She then makes the whole class to observe a sample of soil and state some living organisms in the soil

The teacher further explains and demonstrates the uses of soil to humans and animals

1. It is used by humans for farming, building, pottery making etc

2. it provides shelter to some organisms e.g earthworm

3. Soil absorbs the decomposed dead organisms

4. It is used by humans to make some kitchen utensils e.g glassware

5. Soil helps to regulate the earth temperature by holding the trees in it providing covering for animals

6. Soil provides food for animals as the crops grown on it is eaten by them
