SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Outline various crops produced in agriculture
  2. Explain the importance of crops to man
  3. Carry out some of the activities involved in crop production
  4. Explain the meaning of simple sewing tools
  5. Give examples of simple sewing tools
  6. State the uses of simple sewing tools

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Chart showing needle crafts, needles, pins, thread, measuring thread, tracing wheel, scissors etc, display of different agricultural crops

She explains the meaning of crop production

 

Crop production is the process of growing crops for domestic and commercial purposes. Some of the crops produced on a large scale include rice, wheat, maize, jute, etc.

 

She explains the importance of crop production

1. Source of raw materials

3. for sales and to earn a living

 

She outlines some activities involved in crop production

1. Land preparation

2. ridging and mound making

She explains the meaning of simple sewing tools

 

Sewing tools are the various instruments used for sewing by hand or machine. They include items such as scissors, needles, pins, thimbles, and thread.

 

She further explains the uses of simple sewing tools

1. Felt Fabric. Fabric to hand sew on.

2. Needles. To sew stitches with.

3. Sewing Threads. To sew stitches with.

4. Scissors-Cut fabric, snip threads.

5. Fiber Fill-Fill toys, stuff plushie etc

6. Glass Head Pins. Attach something to felt temporarily.

7. Pincushions. Pin storage.

8. Marking Tools- to make marks on fabrics
