THE FIRST FEDERAL CAPITAL OF NIGERIA
The first capital of Nigeria was Lagos. It was the administrative centre of the Southern protectorate before the 1914 amalgamation and decame the capital of the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria. In 1960, Lagos became the Capital of a now independent Nigeria. On 1st October 1960, the independence was celebrated at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. At the time, Tafawa Balewa was the prime minister while Nnamdi Azikiwe was the governor-general
