INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

PERIOD 1: Weather instruments

PRESENTATION

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY

PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on weather instruments

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains the meaning and qualities of good water

Water is the liquid that comes from the clouds as rain and forms streams, lakes, and seas

Qualities of good water are

1. colourless

2. odourless

3. tasteless

4. transparent

5. safe

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She then explains the following concepts

Evaporation happens when a liquid turns into a gas. It can be easily visualized when rain puddles “disappear” on a hot day or when wet clothes dry in the sun. In these examples, the liquid water is not actually vanishing—it is evaporating into a gas, called water vapor.

Condensation is the process where water vapor becomes liquid. It is the reverse of evaporation, where liquid water becomes a vapor

Melting means The definition of melt is to turn from a solid to liquid as a result of exposure to heat. An example of melt is what an ice cube does when exposed to the sun.

Freezing is the process when a liquid turns into a solid. Freezing occurs when heat is lost from an object, which causes the molecules to slow down and form tighter bonds. One example of freezing is when water turns into ice. Freezing is the opposite of melting

STEP 4

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short note on the board

The pupils copy the note in their books

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher discusses the meaning of first aid, first aid box and first aider

First aid can be defined as an emergency care or treatment given to an ill or injured person before regular medical aid can be obtained

First aid box can be defined as a box containing equipment needed to give immediate medical help in an emergency.

A first aider is someone who is qualified to give first aid treatment in the event of an injury or illness.

The teacher lists the contents of the first aid box and their uses

1.   A box of adhesive dressing (Plasters) of different sizes for covering small wounds.

2.   Blunt-ended scissors for cutting bandage of plaster.

3.   Antiseptic lotion to use with the cotton wool and antiseptic wipes.

4.   Cotton wool for cleaning cuts and gauzes.

5.   Some triangular bandages to several safety pins for making a sling or emergency bandage.

6.   Sterile dressings (field dressings) of various sizes for covering wounds. Sterile eye dressings with bandage attached for eye injuries.

7.   Aspirin or paracetamol preferably sealed in foil to give longer shelf life.

8.   Anti histamine cream for insect bites and stings.

9.   Tweezers for removing splinters.

10.                Tubular gauze bandages for finger injuries and applicator tongs.

11.                Two or three crepe or conforming bandages for sprains and for wounds in awkward places such as elbows and ankles.

The teacher describes simple first aid treatment.

BURNS

1.   Place the burned area under running cool water for at least 5 minutes to reduce swelling.

2.   Apply an antiseptic spray, antibiotic ointment, or aloe vera cream to soothe the area.

3.   Loosely wrap a gauze bandage around the burn.

4.   To relieve pain, take acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen.

BRUISES

1.   Rest the bruised area, if possible.

2.   Ice the bruise with an ice pack wrapped in a towel. Leave it in place for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat several times a day for a day or two as needed.

3.   Compress the bruised area if it is swelling, using an elastic bandage. Don't make it too tight.

4.   Elevate the injured area.

CUTS

1. Wash your hands. This helps avoid infection.

2. Stop the bleeding.

3. Clean the wound.

4. Apply an antibiotic or petroleum jelly.

5. Cover the wound.

6. Change the dressing.

7. Get a tetanus shot.

8. Watch for signs of infection.

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

The teacher explains these concepts

Computer program is a sequence or set of instructions in a programming language for a computer to execute.

Programmer is a professional that creates instructions for a computer to execute by writing and testing code that enables applications and software programs to operate successfully.

Computer programming is the process that professionals use to write code that instructs how a computer, application or software program performs. At its most basic, computer programming is a set of instructions to facilitate specific actions.
