STATES CREATION UNDER GEN IBRAHIM BABANGIDA-1987-1991
In 1987, two extra states were created by Gen Ibrahim Babangida: Akwa Ibom out of Cross Rivers state and Katsina from Kaduna state making it a total of 21 states.
On August 27 1991, he created another nine states making the total 30 states: Taraba from Gongola, Abia and Enugu from Anambra, Edo and Delta from Bendel state, Yobe from Borno state, Jigawa state from Kano state, Osun from Oyo state and Kogi state. Here are the list of the 30 states under his regime:
