7. Hospital ahead signs

If you want to cross the road and there's no traffic officer or an adult to help you, follow these simple steps.

1. Never try to cross where there is no zebra crossing. Cars obey zebra crossings so they are the safest places to cross from

2. Wait for the traffic to slow down a bit and when it has, walk straight.

3. Look right, look left and look right again and be certain no car is coming before crossing

Peer pressure is a feeling that one must do the same things as other people of one's age and social group in order to be liked or respected by them

 

The teacher further lists the behaviours that could be the result of peer pressure

1. drug abuse

2. Drunk behaviours

3. criminal behaviours e.g cybercrimes, armed robbery, kidnapping,  etc

DEMONSTRATION

The teacher describes simple first aid treatment.

BURNS

1.   Place the burned area under running cool water for at least 5 minutes to reduce swelling.

2.   Apply an antiseptic spray, antibiotic ointment, or aloe vera cream to soothe the area.

3.   Loosely wrap a gauze bandage around the burn.

4.   To relieve pain, take acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen.

 

BRUISES

1.   Rest the bruised area, if possible.

2.   Ice the bruise with an ice pack wrapped in a towel. Leave it in place for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat several times a day for a day or two as needed.

3.   Compress the bruised area if it is swelling, using an elastic bandage. Don't make it too tight.

4.   Elevate the injured area.

 

CUTS

1. Wash your hands. This helps avoid infection.

2. Stop the bleeding.

3. Clean the wound.

4. Apply an antibiotic or petroleum jelly.

5. Cover the wound.

6. Change the dressing.  

7. Get a tetanus shot.

8. Watch for signs of infection.
