INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: pictures and charts of various highway codes, flash cards of theft behaviour, real objects in the first aid box e.g cotton wool, Methylated spirit, Gentian Violet etc

The teacher further lists the examples of simple highway codes in Nigeria

5. Men at work signs

6. Children crossing sings

7. Hospital ahead signs

8. School ahead signs

The teacher explains the meaning of theft

Theft means taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it

 

She further highlights actions that could be described as theft

1. Committing fraud

2. Breaking and entering into someone’s house or property

3. Bribing others to get favours

4. shop-lifting

5. pick-pocketing

6. Robbery(either armed or unarmed)

7. Looting

DEMONSTRATION

The teacher lists the contents of the first aid box and their uses

1.   A box of adhesive dressing (Plasters) of different sizes for covering small wounds.

2.   Blunt-ended scissors for cutting bandage of plaster.

3.   Antiseptic lotion to use with the cotton wool and antiseptic wipes.

4.   Cotton wool for cleaning cuts and gauzes.

5.   Some triangular bandages to several safety pins for making a sling or emergency bandage.

6.   Sterile dressings (field dressings) of various sizes for covering wounds. Sterile eye dressings with bandage attached for eye injuries.

7.   Aspirin or paracetamol preferably sealed in foil to give longer shelf life.

8.   Anti histamine cream for insect bites and stings.

9.   Tweezers for removing splinters.

10.                Tubular gauze bandages for finger injuries and applicator tongs.

11.                Two or three crepe or conforming bandages for sprains and for wounds in awkward places such as elbows and ankles.
