NOTE

A town is a place with many streets and buildings, where people live and work. Towns are larger than villages and smaller than cities.

 

CALABAR

It is the capital of Cross river state. It as originally named Akwa Akpa, in Efik language. It is often described as the tourism capital of Nigeria. Calabar has three principal kingdoms, namely: The Efut and the Efik kingdoms. The qua kingdom has the Niddem of the Qua nation as the Grand Patriarch, the Efut have the Muri munene as the Grand Patriarch and the Efik kingdom patriarch is the Obong. Witin te last 100 years, a gentleman’s agreement to merge these three zones into one, with a single titular head as the Obong, and the distribution and opening up of the title to all Efik wards was reached.

The indigenes are known for their artistic skills, rich food, culture and traditions. Their main occupation is agriculture and fishing. They are majorly Christians. Its estimated population is 371,022
