STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on the sufferings of Christ

EXPLANATION

She narrates the story of the arrest of Jesus

-      Jesus had been betrayed by one of His disciples Judas Iscariot who sold Him for thirty pieces of silver.

-      He had brought soldiers to arrest Jesus at the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was with his closest disciples.

-      He had told them to arrest the one he greeted with a kiss.

-      When they arrived, Jesus asked who they were looking for and they all fell back

-      When they got up, they said they were looking for Jesus and Judas kissed him

-      When they were trying to take Jesus, Peter got angry, pulled jis sword and cut off the ears of one of the High priest’s servant who had accompanied the soldiers.

-      Jesus told Peter to be calm and He fixed back the ear before He was led away

The teacher narrates the story of the death of Jesus as stated in the story about his sufferings

-      Jesus was taken to the highpriests- Annias and Caipahas and the Roman governor-Pilate who brought three false witnesses to the court against Jesus

-      Even when Pilate wanted to release Jesus, the high priests and people requested for the release of Barabbas instead

-      So Jesus was crucified on the cross of calvary amidst ominous signs including three hours darkness in the day, tearing of the veil of the temple from top to bottom and earthquakes.

-      After asking God to receive His soul, Jesus breathed His last and died
