ONITSHA

It is located in Anambra state. It was founded by 18^th century people who migrated north east of Benin. Staring form 1856, Onitsha served as the trading post for European traders. A year later, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther and others established a missionary station there. It is the birth place of the popular Onitsha Market Literature genre. Its population is estimated at 500,000
