SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Mention some items that give us light
  2. Explain the characteristics of light
  3. Give the meaning of Christians as the light of the world
  4. State the importance of Christians as the light of the world
  5. Describe things they should do to shine as the lights of the world

Instructional Techniques: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, story-telling

Instructional Materials: Bible, charts showing different objects that can give us light e.g torch light, lamp, candle, sun etc

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on Christians as the salt of the earth

EXPLANATION

She introduces the new topic by explaining what Christians as the light of the world mean-

 

Christians as the light of the world means that in a world filled with all forms of darkness, wickedness, poverty, misery, sadness, failures etc, Christians are to be the light.

Pupils pay attention and anticipate

The teacher explains the importance of Christians as the light of the world

1. they have the means to enlighten the world through the truth of Christ

2. God placed them in various parts of the world for the purpose of taking the gospel even to the ends of the earth

3. Grace is available for them to perform good works that can further shine their lights

 

She further explains how Christians can shine their lights

1. be role models to others in good virtues and character

2. perform good works such as charity etc that praises may go to our heavenly Father

3. Spread the gospel to everyone they come across

4. Pray for the salvation and deliverance of the unsaved
