The teacher explains the meaning of themes in literature and lists of common themes explored in literature

A literary theme is the main idea or underlying meaning a writer explores in a novel, short story, or other literary work

 

Common themes explored in literature

  1. Good vs. evil- this is about the ultimate war of good versus evil
  2. Love.- family love, unrequited love, friendship etc
  3. Redemption- a character flawed discovering his wicked ways and turning towards becoming better
  4. Courage and perseverance- having victory in the face of severe challenges and adversities
  5. Coming of age- a maturation from infancy, childhood, teenage/puberty to adulthood
  6. Revenge- a conflict between a character and their enemies
