SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

1) Explain the meaning of crops

2) State the classes of crops and their examples

3) Describe the materials used for washing clothes

4) Wash their clothes by themselves

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Audio visual resources, pictures and chart showing the classes of crops, washing basin, detergents, bar soap, water, hypo or bleach

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on unbalanced diet and uses and care of clothes

EXPLANATION

She introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of crop

 

Crop means a cultivated plant for the purpose of sales or consumption

 

She also explains the various classes of crops and their examples

1. Grains and cereals e.g rice, maize, millet, guinea corn etc

2. Legumes e.g soya beans, cowpea etc

3. Tuber crops e.g yam, cassava, potatoes etc

4. Vegetables e.g carrots, cabbage, cucumber etc

5. Fruits e.g apples, mangoes, oranges, strawberries etc

6. Ornamental plants e.g hibiscus flower, rose flower, lily, sunflower etc

7. Oil crops e.g nuts, melon etc

8. Latex crops e.g rubber

9. Fibre crops e.g raffia, cotton etc
