  1. Explain costume and make-up mean
  2. Classify the types of costumes
  3. Highlight the functions of costumes and make-up

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, videos from source, experimentation

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: pictures of make-up accessories e.g powder, lipstick, eye pencil, native chalk etc, beaded jewelleries, walking sticks, crowns

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson on the role of people involved in the staging of  play and introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of costumes and make-up-

Costumes are clothes and accessories an actor or actress wear in order to portray a character

 

Make-up is the application of colours and shades in order to portray a character

Pupils pay attention

The teacher then further highlights the classes of costumes and make-up

4. The rich and the poor i.e. social and economic status of the characters are easily identified.

5. It helps in identifying the occupation or profession of the character.

6. Costume gives weight and extra meaning to a drama.
