SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Explain the meaning of wind
  2. Describe the effects of wind on human and non-living things
  3. Demonstrate how wind works
  4. List and demonstrate the basic skills in football

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, videos from source, experimentation

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: football field/pitch, balls, goalpost, nets, shin guard, footwear/soccer boot, jerseys, stockings/hose/sock, corner flag, piece of paper, feathers, charts showing the effects of wind etc

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson on developed and underdeveloped technology and introduces the new topic by allowing the class to brainstorm and formulate the meaning and causes of wind by watching video clips

 

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher then explains what wind mean- wind simply means air in motion

She further explains that the effects of wind could either be useful or harmful

DEMONSTRATION

Using live examples, the teacher explains the useful effects of wind

A gentle wind is called BREEZE

1. wind is a source of energy

2. wind is used for sailing boats, ship etc

3. wind is used in flying kites, airplanes etc

4. it is useful in separating chaffs from grain

5. it helps us to move effectively

6. it cools our body and environment

7. it helps in the growth of plants and crops

 

The teacher then demonstrates how wind work y using hand fan, kite, balloon and balls
