  4. Draw the clefs and staves

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson about drawing and introduces the new topic by explaining what a staff is-

A staff is a set of five horizontal lines on which note symbols are placed to indicate pitch and rhythm. The lines are numbered from bottom to top; the bottom line is the first line and the top line is the fifth line

She also explains what a great stave is-

 

The great stave is the two-part staff used in piano music, consisting of the treble staff on top and the bass staff on the bottom

The teacher then further explains the differences between staff and the great stave-

The staff is a five-line system used to locate pitches. The Grand Stave is a system of two five-line staves spanning the complete useable range of pitches (with the use of ledger lines).

NOTE
