STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on Moses and the bronze serpent and introduces the new topic by explaining what promised land means-

Promised land is the land of Canaan God promised to Abraham for obeying him when he asked him to leave his father’s house.

EXPLANATION

She gives further explanation of who Joshua is

-      Joshua was an assistant to Moses while he was alive.

-      Joshua was the one who took over leadership from Moses after his death

-      He was one of two spies out of the 12 who gave the Israelites hope that with God they could take the land of Canaan

Demonstration

The teacher explains how Joshua succeeded Moses

-      When Moses was 120 years old, then he summoned Joshua and the entire assembly and commanded him that he was to lead them courageously into the promised land and handed over the law to him and the Levites
