THE EGUN PEOPLE

They are located in Badagry, Lagos (which is situated between the city of Lagos and Seme border) and Ogun states. They are also referred to as the ‘Ogu’ people. They are one of the very important, modest and minor tribes in the south west. Their forefathers migrated from Dahomey to Ipokia Ogun state while some others stayed back in Badagry Lagos. Because their environment is surrounded by water, they are mainly into fishing, coconut processing and salt production.

Among the Eguns, the use of condom as birth control is a taboo due to teir age long traditional belief.
