SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Define the word ‘singing’
  2. Identify the things that happen in their environments e.g rain, traffic lights, stars, sun etc and sing about them

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, videos from source, experimentation

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: musical instruments like piano, keyboards, drums etc, music textbooks on singing

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by explaining what singing means- singing means when we produce musical sounds with our voice

EXPLANATION

The teacher then further explains the purpose of singing

1. to build musical skills- matching tone, keeping a steady rhythm, expressing emotion through voice etc

2. to build mathematical and spatial skills: Children who have taken singing classes score higher in mathematics

DEMONSTRATION

She further explains and demonstrates the importance of singing

1. it builds self-confidence

2. it promotes healthy self-esteem

3. it promotes social inclusion

4. it supports social skill development

5. it enables people of different ages and abilities to come together successfully to create something special

 

She teaches them some songs on the sun and rain
