THE OKUN PEOPLE
They are located in Kogi state. According to oral source, they migrated from Ile-Ife after they were told to spread and occupy more lands and report at a yearly meeting. The man that led the group of people to a location(now called YAGBA) did not return over a long period of time.
When he eventually returned, he explained that he lost a large part of his acquired land to other migrants. He was blamed and said in Yoruba, “Iya Agba Lo Je mi” meaning he was invaded and robbed of his land due to lack of elderly people with him. He was mocked leading them t name him “Iya Agba”. This name was associated to him and was used whenever a message was being sent to him in the area he occupied now called “YAGBA”
