There are 36states in Nigeria plus the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) under the control of the Federal government. In Nigeria, there are 774 local government areas.

NOTE

States in Nigeria

There are 36states in Nigeria plus the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) under the control of the Federal government. In Nigeria, there are 774 local government areas.

 

OSUN (Land of virtue)

It was created out of Oyo state in 1991. Its capital is Osogbo. It is in south western Nigeria. Economic activities include cultivation of oil palm, tubers, cocoa and citrus fruits. The dominant religions are Christianity and Islam. It consists of 30 local government areas.

 

OYO (Pace setter state)

It was created in 1991 out of western state. Its capital is Ibadan. Economic activities include cultivation of tubers, bananas, cocoa, oil palm and cashews. It consists of 33 local government areas.

 

PLATEAU (Home of Peace and Tourism)

It was created in 1976 out of Benue-Plateau state. Its capital is Jos. Economic activities include cultivation of potatoes, herding of cattle and fishing. It consists of 14 local government areas.

 

RIVERS STATES (Treasure base of the nation)

It was created in 1967 out of Eastern region. Its capital is Port Harcourt. Economic activities include cultivation of oil palm, fishing and extracting petroleum. It consists of 23 local government areas.
