INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Charts and pictures showing a well-dressed NSCDC officer, charts and pictures showing stale food, expired drugs etc, pictures of pupils showing respect to elderly people, their parents and teachers

5. Seizes Suspected Proceed Of Vandalization

Harmful substances are anything that are contaminated and can pose threats to human safety and well being

4. Lack of family involvement and to suppress traumas

5. Early use.

6. Taking a highly addictive drug.

Duties of The Nigeria correctional Service (NCS)

  1. Isolating individuals who committed offense from the society
  2. Enforces repentance and reformation in law offenders
  3. Punishes to serve as deterrence
  4. Protects citizens from criminals
  5. Keeps convicted criminals in lawful custody

 

HARMFUL SUBSTANCES

Harmful substances are anything that are contaminated and can pose threats to human safety and well being

Reasons why we people take harmful substances

  1. Family history of addiction.
  2. Due to mental health disorder.
  3. Peer pressure.
  4. Lack of family involvement and to suppress traumas
  5. Early use.
  6. Taking a highly addictive drug.

 

EVALUATION:    1. State five duties of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS)

  1. Explain the meaning of harmful substances
  2. Explain four reasons why people take harmful substances

CLASS ACTIVITY: Pupils in small groups explain why people take harmful substances
