INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by Explaining what a interjection is

 

Interjections are words that we use to express a sudden feeling of praise, sorrow, pleasure, pain, happiness etc. Examples of interjections are oh!, ah!, hurray!, amen! Etc

The teacher further explains the meaning of some interjections

1. oh! Exclamation of surprise, fear etc

e.g Oh! He fell down

2. Ah! cry of surprise, pity

e.g Ah! I was not there

3. Oho! Exclamation of surprise, or triumph

e.g Oho! He scored at last

4. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

e.g Hallelujah!

5. Aha! Cry of surprise, triumph, satisfaction etc

e.g Aha! I told you not to go there

6. Hey! A shout expressing joy or used to attract attention

e.g Hey! Stop that rubbish

7. Hi!  Hello

e.g Hi! You are welcome

8. Amen! Used at the end of a prayer or hymn meaning

e.g ‘May it be so, forever and  ever, Amen!

9. Hurrah! Expressing happiness, joy, welcome

e.g Hurrah! They are here
