Meaning of heroes and heroines
A hero is a man who we admire for doing a brave and great thing
A heroine is a woman who we admire for doing a brave and great thing
SIR AHMADU BELLO
He was born on 12th of June 1910 in Rabbah Sokoto. He got into politics in 1934 and 1954. He became the first premier of the Northern Nigeria region. He alongside Abubakar Tafawa Balewa took active roles in the struggle for an independent Nigeria. He was assasinatd in a coup that toppled Nigeria’s post-idnependenc government. The Ahmadu Bello University is named after him and his photo adorns the Nigeria’s 200 naira note.
DR NNAMDI AZIKIWE
He was born on the 16th of November 1904. He was one of the leading figures of modern Nigerian nationalism. He was fondly ‘Zik’. He became the first president of Nigeria after Nigeria got her independence from the United Kingdom. While working as the editor for the African Morning Post, a daily newspaper in Ghana, Nnamdi Azikiwe promoted pro-African nationalist agenda.
He founded the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons(NCNC) in 1944 alongside Herbert Macaulay and h was made the secretary-general of the National council 1946.
Following the declaration of Nigeria as a Republic in 1963, he was the last governor-general. He fought tirelessly for an independent and united Nigeria. He died on 11th May 1996 .
