SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Explain the presentation of Jesus in the temple.
  2. List the names of people who were at the presentation of Jesus in the temple.
  3. State what Simeon said at the temple at the presentation of Jesus.

Instructional Materials: toys, picture book showing the presentation of Jesus in the temple, Bible, story book

INTRODUCTION

The teacher defines a Temple as a place devoted to the worship of God.

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

 She further explains a temple is a place where people go to meet God in the public. She explains that it takes 40 days to present a child to the temple after his birth

Pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

Using the Bible story books and the pictures there in she tells the story of the presentation of Jesus in the Temple

            -How Mary brought Jesus to the Temple

           - How they offered a sacrifice in the temple

           - How they met Simeon a Jew who bless child and Prophesied concerning the child

          - How they met Anna a prophetess of God. (Lk 2:22-40)

Pupils pay attention and participate

The teacher writes a short note on the board

NOTE

The presentation of a new born baby in the temple(church) is of much importance as it signifies that one is of the family of God. It is an acknowledgement that you are of a child of God and not of the devil.
