SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Mention something that can hinder our prayers.
  2. State what they asked for in their prayers.
  3. Explain how God answered their Prayers.

Instructional Materials: toys, picture book showing the raising of Lazarus, Bible, story book

INTRODUCTION

The Teacher uses ‘Prayer is the key’ song to introduce this topic.

She mentions things that hinder our Prayer

EXPLANATION

Things that hinder the power of prayer

1. Lies

2. Stealing

3. Disobedient

4. Lust and so on.

DEMONSTRATION

Using the Bible story books and the pictures there in she tells the story of Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

       -How Elijah challenged the people to follow one God

       - How a test was arranged between Elijah and the 250 prophets to show the power of God

         - How Elijah came up victorious and how the 250 prophets of Baal were humiliated and Killed. 1 kg18:20-40.

The teacher writes a short note on the board

NOTE

We Pray to God when we need to talk to him, request for something, plea for repentance, intercede for others and so on. But these prayers won’t be answer if we Lie, steal, Disobey our Parent and Elderly ones and so on because this are things that hinder our prayers. All these hindrances refer to Sin

Evaluation:       1. Examples are things that hinder our prayer. (Lies, Giving, Stealing)

  2. Prayer is compulsory for a Christian. (True/False)

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation.
