A town is a place with many streets and buildings, where people live and work. Towns are larger than villages and smaller than cities.

BAUCHI

It is the capital of Bauchi state. It was founded during the Fulani jihad established by the Sokoto Caliphate in 1973. It served as one of the locations where followers of radical Muslim Muhammadu Marwa was located. Bauchi has a tropical savannah climate. It is home to the renowned Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. Its population is estimated at 300,000

 

LOKOJA

It is the capital of Kogi state. Macgregor Laird was the first European to arrive in the town of Lokoja. Lokoja was the headquarters for the Royal Niger Company and capital of the Protectorate of the Northern Nigeria. It lies at the confluence of the River Niger and River Benue. All the three religions exist in Lokoja. It has three major markets: New market (International market), Old market (holds every five days) and Kpata market (holds every five days). Its population is estimated at 195,000.

 

MAIDUGURI

It is the capital of Borno state. They are mostly muslims and of Kanuri descent. It has two major markets: Gomboru(Monday market) and Kamuri(New Market). Maiduguri has made recent history due to outburst of violence by the notorious terrorist group-Boko Haram. It is t home of the University of Maiduguri. Its population is estimated at 520,000

 

NSUKKA

It is located in Enugu state. It is home o the Uli Art Museum which used symbols of designs that Igbo women traditionally used to adorn their bodies and applied to the walls of shrine. It is home to the famous University Of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka founded by Nnamdi Azikwe in 1955. Its population is estimated at 300,000
