INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by Explaining what Adjectives are

Adjectives are words that describe nouns. Examples of Adjectives are kind, heavy, new, old, little, long, small, fat etc

EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION/TEACHER MODELLING

The teacher further explains the different classes of Adjectives

1. adjectives of quality- it tells us what sort or kind of noun e.g a short tree, a long pencil, a beautiful girl, a tall building etc

 

2. adjectives of quantity- it tells us ‘how many’ or ‘how much’ of a noun

 

3. Demonstrative adjectives- they are placed before a nun in order to draw attention to the noun being spoken about e.g

That boy is running

This man is laughing

 

4. Interrogative adjectives- they are used to make enquiries about the noun e.g

Whose book is this?

Which boy?

 

5. Possessive adjectives- they show ownership. They are placed before nouns possessed e.g

My book

His pencil

Her table

Our house
