  3. Identify the different features of the CPU and state its functions
  4. Explain the meaning of Athletics
  5. Give examples of track events
  6. Perform short distance races

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: tissue paper, rough and smooth cardboard paper, water-hot, cold and warm, chart/pictures of people running a race, cone, track

The teacher revises the previous lesson on the organ of taste

The teacher explains the meaning of touch

 

Touch is the medium through  which external objects or forces are perceived through contact with the body

She then explains the importance of touch

The teacher explains what short distance races are and gives examples

Short distance races are called sprints e.g 50m dash, 100m, 200m and 400m race

 

She also explains the health benefits of short distance races

1. it improves the brain and muscle functions

2. it improves and assists metabolism and digestion

3. it helps to burn calories and maintain a healthy weight

4. it improves muscular strength

 

She takes the pupils to the playground and demonstrates the 50m dash asks the pupils to do the same
