When pupils study Literature,

1. it prepares the learners for the uncertainties of life

2. Pupils develop a sense of individuality and creativity, as they develop their own opinions about issues in their texts.

3. They also learn skills of persuasion – they need to convince others of their interpretations, and this builds their confidence.

4. Pupils learn skills of self-management as well

5. in Literature, the mind is expanded to different ways of answering questions, and it can be applied in life as well finding solutions to problems

6. it develops in pupils enduring values, such as integrity, compassion, loyalty and responsibility

7. Through literature, pupils explore multiple opportunities to discuss and reassess their own values and beliefs. These act as a compass in life as they grow up
