Term: 1st Term
Week: 4
Class: Primary 2
Age: 7 years
Duration: 40 minutes of 3 periods
Date:
Subject: Basic Science and Technology
Topic:- The senses - hearing
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, videos from source
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: wind instruments like saxophone, clarinet, trumpets etc, recorded sound of animals, frogs, dogs etc
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
PERIOD 1: The sense of hearing
PRESENTATION | TEACHER’S ACTIVITY | PUPIL’S ACTIVITY |
STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher revises the previous lesson on the organ of sight | Pupils pay attention |
STEP 2 EXPLANATION | The teacher explains the meaning of hearing Hearing means the process, function, or power of perceiving sound | Pupils pay attention and participates |
STEP 3 INTERACTIVE SESSION | She then explains the importance of hearing 1. Hearing is essential for maintaining relationships and connections with friends and family 2. It is essential for fully participating in team and community activities, and experiencing life events. 3. NOTE
Hearing means the process, function, or power of perceiving sound
Importance of hearing
EVALUATION: 1. Explain the meaning of hearing
CLASS ACTIVITY: Using the sense of hearing, the pupils are asked to distinguish sounds of different objects, animals and human beings
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
PERIOD 2 and 3: Digital and Hybrid computer. Movement
PRESENTATION | TEACHER’S ACTIVITY | PUPIL’S ACTIVITY |
STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher revisits the previous lesson on the analog computer
| Pupils pay attention |
STEP 2 EXPLANATION | The teacher then explains the meaning of digital and hybrid computer
Digital computer is any of a class of devices capable of solving problems by processing information in discrete form. It operates on data, including magnitudes, letters, and symbols, that are expressed in binary code—i.e., using only the two digits 0 and 1. Examples of digital computers are Personal Computers (Desktops, Laptops, Notebooks, and Chromebooks), Smartphones, and Tablets, Calculators, Digital Weighing Machine, Accounting machines, Digital clock and ATM (Automated Teller Machine)
A hybrid computer is a type of computer that offers the functionalities of both a digital and an analog computer. It is designed to include a working analog unit that is powerful for calculations, yet has a readily available digital memory. Examples of hybrid computers are Gasoline Station, Electrocardiogram Machine, Ultrasound Machine, Monitoring Machine etc | Pupils pay attention and participates |
STEP 3 DEMONSTRATION | She further explains what movements means Movement is the change in position
She explains and demonstrates some movement as the pupils do the same e.g leaping, hopping, running, stepping, catching of objects, throwing of objects, striking of objects, etc
She performs the basic movement patterns
| Pupils pay attention and participate |
STEP 4 NOTE TAKING | The teacher writes a short note on the board | The pupils copy the note in their books |
NOTE

MOVEMENT
Movement is the change in position e.g leaping, hopping, running, stepping, catching of objects, throwing of objects, striking of objects, etc
EVALUATION: 1. What is a digital computer? Give two examples
CLASS ACTIVITY: Pupils in small groups perform correct patterns in manipulative movement
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
