SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupil should be able to

1) Identify shapes of Objects in/outside the classroom

2) Draw different basic shapes and label it

3) Identify the shapes with similar real objects around them. E.g Orange, Desk, Cup, Tin etc

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playword, method, question and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL: Audio visual resources: pictures of shapes and illustrations, Plane shapes like rectangle, square, triangle, Table, chaired

INTRODUCTION

The teacher defines shape as the appearance of something

Using a book, she shows the basic shapes and their names

EXPLANATION

She explains that there are two types of shapes, Plane and Solid shapes. Plane shapes include triangle, rectangle while solid shape include cube, cuboid

Using Pictures, pencil, drawing book the Teacher assist the pupil in creating the shapes taught.

NOTE

Shape is defined as the form of an Object bounded by lines. Everything in the world has a shape. There are different kinds of shapes:

1) Plane shape- These are shapes that has just length and breadth also known as two dimensional shapes examples include circle, square, rectangle etc

2) solid shapes- These are shapes that has length, breadth and height also known as three-dimensional shapes e.g include cube, cylinder, prism etc

EVALUATION:  1) Shapes are a form of ______. (Lines, Object, Solid)

2) Shapes are bounded by _______. (Lines, Figures, Alphabet)

3) _______ is an example of plane shapes. (Cube, Cylinder, Circle)
