INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Milk tins/small buckets, soil, bean seedlings, gloves, aprons, water, small shovels etc

STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher uses the Gardener plants a seed song and introduces the topic and explains that planting is when we put seeds or young plants into to soil in order for them to grow | Pupils pay attention |
STEP 2 EXPLANATION | She lists the different materials to be used in planting and shows them - Big milk tins/small buckets - Soil - Bean seeds - Water - Shovels - Aprons - Gloves | Pupils pay attention and participates |
STEP 3 DEMONSTRATION | She then states as she demonstrates step by step how to plant a bean seed - Wear your apron and gloves- she explains that we do this so that we won’t stain our clothes and hands - Pour the soil into the milk tin/bucket and allow it to go half-way - Using the shovel, opens the soil and plants the bean seed in it - She covers the soil and asks waters it - She then keeps it in the corner of the class where there is sunshine
The pupils are made to do the same as the teacher supervises | Pupils pay attention and participate |
