SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. List and discuss some causes of diseases and illnesses e.g drinking dirty water, using dirty plates or cutlery to eat, picking food from the floor, living or sleeping in dirty room, stagnant water in the surroundings, littering of floor and roads with dirt.
  2. Discuss the implications of dirty habits to our health and environment

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERALS: Clean water, bottle, container, towel, toilet soap, basin, cups, salt/sugar, spoon, medicated soap/disinfectant treated mosquito nets

STEP 1

Introduction to the topic

The teacher introduces the topic with a story on the causes and effects of diseases on the health of pupils.

Demonstration

Using clean water, container, towel e.t.c the teacher shows how using dirty objects causes harm to our health unlike these clean objects.

Explanation

The teacher then explains to the children the various causes of diseases, which are: drinking dirty water, using dirty plates, using dirty cutlery.

The teacher then tells the children the various dangers/effects of these diseases on our health and environment, which are: It leads to malnutrition, dirty environment, death e.t.c.
