STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher introduces the topic with the if you’re happy and you know it song;
She explains that an old woman is someone who is elderly
She explains that a shoe is what we wear on our feet to cover and protect it
She explains that a broth is a soup that contains meat, fish and vegetables

STEP 2 EXPLANATION | The teacher explains the rhymes and shows them shows them the picture of an old woman, shoe, bread and broth

STEP 3 RECITATION | The teacher recites the rhyme as many times as possible and asks the pupils to do same.
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe. She had so many children, she didn't know what to do. She gave them some broth without any bread; And whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.
