STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher introduces the topic with the if you’re happy and you know it song;

 

She explains that an old woman is someone who is elderly

 

She explains that a shoe is what we wear on our feet to cover and protect it

 

She explains that a broth is a soup that contains meat, fish and vegetables

 

The pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains the rhymes and shows them shows them the picture of an old woman, shoe, bread and broth

 

She also explains the wordings one after the other

Pupils listen

STEP 3

RECITATION

The teacher recites the rhyme as many times as possible and asks the pupils to do same.

 

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.

She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.

She gave them some broth without any bread;

And whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.
