STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher introduces the topic with the if you’re happy and you know it song;

 

She explains that a rye is used to produce bread flour.

 

She also explains that pence is a sum of money used in Britain

 

She also explains that a dainty dish is simply a tiny meal

The pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains the rhymes and shows them shows them the picture of a rye, pie, king, dainty dish and a pence

 

She also explains the wordings one after the other

Pupils listen

STEP 3

RECITATION

The teacher recites the rhyme as many times as possible and asks the pupils to do same.

 

Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
