SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Discuss the simple meaning of courtesy
  2. Describe how to show courtesy to elders

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: picture books, posters/charts showing people greeting one another, pictures of toilets, tissue paper, pupils as learning resource

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher uses the if you’re happy and you know it song introduces the topic and explains that courtesy is having good manners and being polite

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

She explains the various ways we can show courtesy to parents, elders, teachers and classmates.

-      Cover our mouth while eating

-      Not talking while eating

-      Eating quietly

-      Flushing the toilet after using it

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She demonstrates how to show courtesy: covering the mouth while eating, not talking while eating, eating quietly and washing the toilet

 

She then asks some of the learners to demonstrate any of the ways to show courtesy

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short not on the board

The pupils copy the notes in their books

 

NOTE

Courtesy is having good manners and being polite.

EVALUATION:    1. We should make noise while eating. Yes/No
