SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: AT the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Identify what a ‘cradle’ is
  2. Mention all the things that happen when there’s a heavy rain
  3. Recite the rhymes with ease

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Collection of poems and rhymes book, picture of the rain, real objects of umbrellas and rain coats, picture of a cradle

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher introduces the topic with the weather song;

She explains that a cradle is baby’s bed on rockers

She explains that during heavy rain, winds blow, treetops fall etc

The pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains the rhymes and shows them a picture of rain pouring heavily with winds and branches of tree singing heavily

 

She also explains the wordings one after the other

Pupils listen

STEP 3

RECITATION

The teacher recites the rhyme as many times as possible and asks the pupils to do same.

 

Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetops,
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock,
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all.
