SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Discuss how Joseph and Mary took Jesus to the temple 40 days after he was born to be dedicated to the Lord
  2. Discuss how Jesus became a frequent attendant to the temple of God even from a tender aged

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, story-telling

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: toys, picture books showing Jesus in the temple both as an infant and as a child who loved the temple, pictures of Jesus sitting among doctors and teachers of the law asking and answering difficult questions, bible, story book

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher uses J-E-S-U-S song to introduce the topic.

She explains what a temple is- it is what a church is called in the olden days

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

She then further explains that Jesus’ parents Joseph and Mary, were the ones who introduced Jesus to going to the temple when they brought him to be dedicated to God at just a 40 day old baby

And every year, they made it a tradition to always bring Jesus to the temple

DEMONSTRATION

Using the bible story books and the pictures there in she tells the story of Jesus in the temple

-      How Jesus loved going to worship and listen to the word of God in the temple beginning from when he was 12 years old.

-      How Jesus was bold and asked people who were doctors and teachers of the bible many questions in the temple

-      How because of Him learning more about the Bible became wiser and more favoured before God and other people.

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short note on the board.

The pupils copy the notes

 

NOTE

At age 12, Jesus was often seen in the temple worshipping God and listening to His Word. He was found in the midst of doctors and teachers of the law and His wisdom and understanding of the Bible amazed them.

 

EVALUATION:    1. Who introduced Jesus into going to the temple? (His friends, His parents)

  1. Jesus grew wiser because he asked and answered questions about the bible in the temple. Yes/No
  2. Is it good to attend church regularly? Yes/No

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
