SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Give a simple meaning of sickness
  2. Give examples of sicknesses
  3. Discuss steps to take to recover from sickness

INTRODUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INTRODUCTIONAL MATERIALS: A first aid box, pictures/charts of a person receiving first aid treatment, picture of a doctor treating a sick person

STEP 1

Introduction of the topic

Teacher introduces the topic with a drama on sickness

Pupils pay attention

Explanation

She explains that sickness is when we feel unwell and too weak to do any work

 

She then lists the examples of sicknesses e.g fever, cold, cough, malaria, typhoid, dysentery etc

Demonstration

She describes and demonstrates the steps to recover from sicknesses

-      Visit the doctor

-      Eat and drink a lot of water so you can recover fast

-      Take your medications as the doctor told you to

-      Have enough rest

She writes a short note on the board

The pupils copy the notes in their books

 

NOTE

Sickness is when we feel unwell and too weak to do any work. Examples of sicknesses e.g fever, cold, cough, malaria, typhoid, dysentery etc

Steps to recover from sicknesses

  • Visit the doctor
  • Eat and drink a lot of water so you can recover fast
  • Take your medications as the doctor told you to
  • Have enough rest
