DURATION – 5 periods of 35 minutes each

TOPIC- Counting/identification of numbers 1-120

CONTENT – Writing 1-70. Filling the missing numbers 1-70. Writing 1-5 in words colour box 1 and 2. Odd numbers 1-9

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES – By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to –

  1. Count and recognize numbers 1-110
  2. Write numbers 1-70
  3. Fill in the missing numbers 1-70
  4. Spell and write 1-5 in words
  5. Identify odd numbers

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS –number chart, flash cards, counters, objects of different colours

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES – Class participation, explanation, repetition, questions and answers

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR – The pupils can count 1-110

SET INDUCTION – She uses number rhyme to arouse their interest

Introduction

Counting

Using the number chart, the teacher counts numbers 1-110 repeatedly.

Pupils repeat after her

Writing

She writes the number on the board and encourage the pupils to count after her. She also uses flashcards for easy identification

Pupils respond

Evaluation

Count and write numbers 1-70

 

Conclusion

 

She marks their books and corrects them where necessary

 

 

PERIOD III & IV: Writing 1-5 in words, filling the missing numbers 1-70

Number spelling

She explains that we can spell numbers in words. Using the flashcards, she spells thus: one =1, two =2, three =3, four = 4, five = 5

She writes the number on the board and spells repeatedly.

Filling the missing numbers

She writes numbers 1-70 on the board with some numbers missing.

She counts and fills the missing numbers

Write 1-5 in words

Fill in the missing numbers
