TOPIC: Oral counting/identification of numbers 1-100

CONTENT: Counting, recognition, writing, filling in the missing numbers and shapes

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to –

  1. Count and identify numbers 1-100
  2. Write numbers 1-50
  3. Fill in the missing numbers
  4. Identify the four basic shapes

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS – flash cards, number chart, shapes

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES – Counting, question, class participation

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR – The pupils can count numbers

SET INDUCTION – She uses number rhyme to arouse their interest

PERIOD I & II – Counting numbers 1-100, writing 1-50

Introduction

She introduces the lesson on the board

Counting/identification

Using the number chart, the teacher counts numbers 1-100 repeatedly. She writes the numbers on the board and counts. She also uses flashcards for easy identification.

Pupils repeat after her and also identify the numbers

III

Number Endings

She writes out the number endings on the board and drills the pupils on them.

Pupils count and identify the numbers

Evaluation

Count and write numbers 1-50

 

Conclusion

 

She marks their books and corrects them where necessary
