STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher introduces the topic with the animal song;

 

She explains that a trinket is a small jewellery that has little value

 

She also explains that a fair is an activity where buying and selling is happening at the same time

 

Blue ribbons are pretty materials used in tying up the hair

The pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains the rhymes and shows them a picture of trinkets, ribbons, a fair

 

She also explains the wordings one after the other

Pupils listen

STEP 3

RECITATION

The teacher recites the rhyme as many times as possible and asks the pupils to do same.

Oh, dear! What can the matter be?
Dear, dear! What can the matter be?
Oh, dear! What can the matter be?
Johnny's so long at the fair.

He promised to buy me a trinket to please me,
And then for a smile oh, he vowed he would tease me,
He promised to bring me a bunch of blue ribbons,
To tie up my bonny brown hair.
