Content:   Writing 0 –40, number endings 1- 40, colours, shapes. Fill in the missing numbers 1- 40.

Specific Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

  1. Count and identify numbers 0- 80
  2. Write numbers 1 – 40
  3. Identify shapes and colours
  4. Fill in the missing number

Instructional Materials: Number chart, flash card, counters

Instructional Techniques: Demonstration, repetition, questions 

Entry Behaviour:  The pupils can count 1 – 70                                                                                                               

Set Induction: The teacher uses number rhyme to arouse their interest

Periods I and II: Oral counting/ Identification of 1-80, writing of 1-40

She places cut out chart in front of the pupils for identification

Evaluation: The teacher asks the following questions

  1. Count and identify numbers 1 – 80
  2. Write numbers 1 – 40

Conclusion: She commends and corrects them positively

 

Periods III: Fill in the missing numbers 1- 40. Number endings 9 -40

Evaluation: The teacher evaluates with the following questions

  1. Fill in the missing numbers and number endings
