TOPIC: Our country—Nigeria I: national flag, anthem and pledge

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

1) Draw the Nigeria’s national flag

2) Recite the national anthem and pledge of the country

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

PRESENTATION	TEACHER’S ACTIVITY	PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
STEP 1 Introduction of the topic	The teacher introduces the topic with a story on Nigeria. She tells that our Nigerian flag, anthem and pledge are part of Nigeria’s national symbols	Pupils pay attention
STEP 2 Explanation	She shows them the Nigerian flag an tells them it has two colours: Green and white She then shows the pupils how to correctly draw and color Nigeria’s national flag She teaches them how to recite the national anthem and pledge	Pupils pay attention
STEP 3 Demonstration	She then shows the real national flag to the pupils that they may be able to identify it	Pupils pay attention
STEP 4 NOTE TAKING	She writes a short note on the board	The pupils copy the notes in their books

NOTE

The Nigerian flag has two colours: Green and white
