  1. Give the simple meaning of traffic light
  2. State the function of the traffic light
  3. State what each of the colour of the traffic light denotes

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Pictures of different roads, picture of the traffic light, picture of a traffic warden

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher uses the when you see a traffic light song and introduces the topic and explains that the traffic light is an object on the road used to control the moving and stopping of people and vehicles on the road

EXPLANATION

She explains that the traffic light helps road users- pedestrians and drivers alike to know when to stop/move for one another

DEMONSTRATION

With the picture of the traffic light she tells them what each colour represent:

Red means stop

Amber/Yellow means Get ready

Green means Go

 

She further tells them to ensure they meet an adult to take them across the road.

 

She also tells them that the road is not a playground and as such they should never engage in playing football or other games on the road as it could lead to a serious accident.

NOTE

Traffic light is an object on the road used to control the moving and stopping of people and vehicles on the road

What each colour represent:

Red means stop

Amber/Yellow means Get ready

Green means Go
