SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Identify a circle as a shape
  2. Count the circles
  3. Draw and Colour them with ease

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Activity book/Drawing book, Colours(coloured pencils, crayons, poster colours), pictures of circles, objects that are circular in shape

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher uses the shapes song and introduces the topic and explains that circle is round in shape.

She tells them that a circle has no edges

She shows them objects like coins, tyres etc that are circular in shape

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

IDENTIFICATION

The teacher shows them the circles in their activity book and asks them to identify them

She then asks them to count the number of circles there are

 

Pupils participate

STEP 3

DRAWING AND COLOURING

The teacher shares out their books for them to draw and colour the circles with colour blue as she draws and colours hers on the board 


The pupils draw and colour following the leading of the teacher

 

EVALUATION:    1. Identify circles

  1. How many circles are in the activity book?
  2. Draw and colour a circle

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
