SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Identify a rectangle as a shape
  2. Count the rectangles
  3. Draw and Colour them with ease

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Activity book/Drawing book, Colours(coloured pencils, crayons, poster colours), pictures of rectangles, objects that are rectangular in shape

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

-The teacher uses the shapes song and introduces the topic and explains that Rectangle is a shape that has four sides.

 

She shows them objects like doors, books, table top, bed that are rectangular in shape

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

IDENTIFICATION

The teacher shows them the rectangles in their activity book and asks them to identify them

She then asks them to count the number of rectangles there are

 

Pupils participate

STEP 3

DRAWING AND COLOURING

The teacher shares out their books for them to draw and colour the rectangles with colour black as she draws and colours hers on the board

 

 

 

EVALUATION:    1. Identify rectangles

  1. How many rectangles are in the activity book?
  2. Draw and colour a rectangle

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
